As we confirmed yesterday the updated guidance from Government, due to the new covid Omicron variant of concern was pending, it’s here now.
These are the main updates from the guidance released last night. Please read to understand if your business environment or activities are impacted.

Events and attractions
Information box added on new measures (face coverings, self-isolation and testing after international travel) because of the Omicron variant. Face coverings are legally required indoors in shops, personal care services and public transport in England, from 4am Tuesday 30 November. Further information on these measures will be added shortly.
Hotels and guest accommodation

Shops, branches, and close contact services
Information added on new measures introduced in response to the Omicron variant. See ‘What’s changed’ for details , read below:
- Contacts of individuals with a suspected or confirmed case of the Omicron variant, must self-isolate, regardless of their age or vaccination status. See Section 4.2.
- Staff and customers must wear a face covering in shops and in premises that provide close contact services (such as hairdressers and beauty therapists). See Section 7.2.

There will be a review in the next three weeks where further measures may be announced, the new variant Omicron should act as a reminder to us all as business leaders that Covid controls and disciplines are still a requirement and should be reinforced to staff and customers and followed by all in your business setting.
The use of staff bubbles to mitigate any outbreaks at work and minimise the loss of staff due to isolation should still form part of your Covid Risk Assessment and control plan.
