Employers will be able to recover any coronavirus-related statutory sick pay (SSP) starting next week.
During the Budget, the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced employers of small and medium businesses (up to 250 employees) will be able to claim back Coronavirus related SSP costs from HMRC for those employees that sickness absence started on or after 13 March 2020.
Today (19 May 2020) the government has announced that the online scheme will be available from 26 May 2020 to enable claims to be made. Further guidance on how to claim can be found on the official Gov.uk website.
