In its seventh year running National Apprenticeships Week is a time to focus on apprenticeships and how they can benefit not only our up and coming talent but our business development.
Apprenticeships can be used in all manners of business life from a carpenter apprentice in a joinery workshop to a sales apprentice in a busy telesales team.
How can we help find and encourage our future MD’s, Accountants, Carpenters and HR Consultants to start their careers in the world of business?
Grow your own. Allow your business to branch out with the help of fresh young minds eager to learn. Apprenticeships are a great way to grow your bottom line by teaching a keen driven individual the skills and knowledge they need to grow business. The government’s apprenticeship support means that as a business you will receive help and funding when searching for, and recruiting an apprentice.
Through Apprenticeships week you can pledge a job vacancy to an apprentice on the National Apprenticeship Website all employees pledging will have their post promoted throughout the week to give you maximum coverage of your vacancy. Everyone has to start somewhere and what better way to nurture the future business executives of our industries.
We spoke to our MD Juliet price and our Sales & Marketing Manager Wendy Twydell on how they feel apprenticeship can help grow a business and support fellow colleagues within an organisation.
“What is really important to any business owner is to find the right people with the right skills, knowledge and attitude to work for you and in the case of apprentices if they have the right attitude to work and good communication skills then the rest we can teach them but you do need to be prepared to coach, mentor and nurture.” Juliet Price, Managing Director at Park City.
“To have someone who is keen and willing to learn the job can help this industry grow. As part of your team, no matter which department they are in your apprentice can certainly add value. Having had over 15 years working with the apprenticeships scheme I can honestly say it works to help our up and coming talent to reach their full potential in business with good honest on the job knowledge.” Wendy Twydell, Sales & Marketing Manager at Park City.
