Until now only workers with children under the age of 17 have been able to request flexible working. This is now about to change, as of April 2014 any worker with six months continues service is now able to request flexible working to commence after 30 June 2014.
It must not be forgotten that employees still only have a right to request flexible working, and not the right to flexible working. The request still needs to be considered by the employer and the guidelines are to consider it reasonably.
