Tighten the grip on your positive and innovative response to COVID-19

May 1st 2020

The UK Government announced yesterday 30th April, that the UK had moved through the peak of the coronavirus, but warned of caution as there was no significant change to current Government guidelines and importantly lockdown and social distancing.

Next week, WC 4th May, the government will start to share the road map to show the way we are going to exit the current restrictions but also confirmed that it’s unlikely that any dates will be given as the scientific data needs to confirm that indeed we have the virus under control in terms of infection rates.

We too would advise caution. Businesses need to continue their focus and discipline on the management of their staff and business processes whilst operating in, what for many, is still a very different and challenging environment. As with the efforts of the whole country to live and operate within the given guidelines in order to reduce risks and avoid a worst-case scenario, business leaders and managers with their teams need to do the same. Now is not the time to lose a grip on the positive and innovative responses many of you have made, in fact, now is the time to improve on what you have done and build on these for permanent business gains.

Pressure will build in relation to a relaxing of the restrictions to allow the economy to start moving again. At this point, your thoughts will immediately turn to returning your business to work and thus moving away from Home Working and Furloughed staff. This is a critical decision and you must plan ahead for this return and follow the best available guidance from Government at the time to allow you to return to work safely, not only as a business but as an individual and as a collective team. Check our website for our Returning to Work Guide.

Park City’s response to our clients has been to provide the best available guidance throughout each phase of this crisis, including Home Working, right-sizing resources, Furloughing Staff, HMRC Portal claims, Communication, working safely for those still operational and now planning the return to work safely, this has been a challenge with Government guidance changing by the hour, however, we have been building our resource library including ‘Business Guides and Tool Kits’ we have issued to clients, importantly coupled with the personal support of our HR and H&S professional teams allowing each business to tailor their actions within the guidance issued whilst taking account of their unique business situation, just as all individuals are different, so are Businesses and a one size fits all approach falls short in terms of the effective help, assistance and advice that is required. At Park City, we will ensure we survive together and emerge stronger and better prepared to meet the challenges ahead allowing you to benefit from our personally tailored service,
