Course Overview
It is crucial that all business leaders understand their responsibility for their employees’ safety in the workplace and this training will cover the ins and outs.
Responsible leaders need to recognise the importance of Safety in the workplace and IOSH Leading Safely teaches you all there is to know. We are here to support your business by strategically integrating health & safety best practices into your organisation.
We understand it can be difficult to take time out of your hectic schedule to participate in the training. This is why we have combined all of the learning into a one-day training course to accommodate your busy work schedule.
By the end of the IOSH Leading Safely course you will be competent in understanding your responsibilities as a leader as well as appreciating the consequences of poor safety management in the workplace. You will also understand the importance of monitoring and reviewing your Health & Safety performance in addition to learning how to plan and oversee the direction of safety in the workplace.

IOSH Leading Safely is designed to educate senior managers and leaders with the appropriate Health & Safety knowledge that is required to keep your business and employees safe at work. Our training facilities are based in Essex, however, if you would prefer, we can come to your premises to deliver a closed course to your leadership team.
Key Learning Points
- You will be able to recognise the value of strategic safety and health and its integration into business management systems and performance
- You will understand your safety and health responsibilities
- You will understand the consequences of poor Health & Safety
- Planning the overall direction for safety and health in your organisation
- You will understand the importance of adequately resourcing your safety and health management system
- You will understand why you should monitor and review your safety and health performance
To begin with, you will complete an Initial diagnostic questionnaire on your Health & Safety leadership behaviours. From here you will be given a personalised report based on your responses, including recommendations on actions to take and improvements to make.
After you begin to investigate a case study review, this will be tailored to your industry and business needs. Details such as how things can go wrong, then ‘getting it right’, including a follow-on scenario based around putting improvements in place using Plan-Do-Check-Act HSMS and integration into business systems.
To finish the training program, you will complete an assessment of personal commitment. This is a set of actions to take following the recommendations in your report and other learning. Once you have completed the program, you will be issued a certificate to recognise your participation and your result.
